by Chris Schmidt on March 18, 2024

Hello OSM Parents,

Here are some updates to OSM:

Youth Pastor/Director Update

We have now had 3 applicants and our first interview, and we are excited for the movement. During this process, we ask you to continue to pray, specifically for wisdom, unity, and patience as we seek the right person for this role.

Wednesday Night Community March 20
6:30-8 p.m.

Middle School

Middle School students will be meeting in the Upper Level Youth Room and will go through NUA. This is a Right Now Media series and the leaders guide and videos are available here: https://app.rightnowmedia.org/en/content/details/265320. Here is the session four summary: Is Jesus someone we can trust? In the Gospels, we are told many stories of his encounters with lost and hurting people. How did he act? He forgave and protected an adulterous woman, he healed the sick and showed them love, and had grace for unbelievers. Everywhere he went he noticed the outcast, seeing them as people, instead of merely sinners. He was a living example of compassion.

High School

For the rest of WNC, the High School students will be diving into the Book of Colossians. They will be studying a section of Scripture each week and having a group discussion on the topic. The High Schoolers will continue to meet in the lower level youth room at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

Sunday Morning March 24

We are continuing on through The Thread series. This week we will be covering The Destruction of Israel and Judah and you can find a parent letter linked here. Please use the handout to walk through some questions with your student after the lesson.

Jay Seegert Will Discuss Scientific Evidence for the Inspiration of the Bible
Wednesday, May 1 | 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Jay Seegert is an international speaker and author who has been speaking on the Authority of Scripture for over 36 years. He has spoken at Districts, No Regrets, and many other events where you may have heard him.

Everything we believe as Christians rests on the assumption that the Bible is actually the inspired, error-free Word of God… but how do we know that? It's not politically correct to believe the Bible alone is the inspired Word of God and most Christians cannot defend this belief. Are we to exercise blind faith, or is there a great body of evidence supporting this crucial point? This topic presents incredible scientific evidence showing beyond doubt that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of God!
